Aelfric's Life of King Edmund

Written before 1002 and based on:

Abbo, Passio sancti Edmundi (written about 985, purporting to be a record of the story as told to Abbo by Dunstan, who had heard it directly from Edmund's sword-bearer): this appears in Arnold's Memorials 1: 3-25; also in Three Lives of English Saints, ed. Michael Winterbottom;  Toronto Medieval Latin Texts (Toronto: Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, for the Centre for Medieval Studies, University of Toronto, 1972), pp. 65-87.
