EBSD measurements show increasing degree of misorientation within each grain of polycrystalline alloy (in this case 304SS). The misorientation from an ‘average’ orientation for each grain is found to follow a log-normal distribution. The mean of this distribution moves to higher values with increasing strain. This may provide a means of assessing extent of cold work in engineering structures. |
