Directions to OUCofA

For the benefit of those poor sods who have to drive through Oxford to find one of our tournaments, here are some directions.

From the north:

Leave the M40 at Junction 9 (signposted for Oxford)
Follow the A34 for a few miles until you come to a junction for Oxford. This is where you join the map below.
Take (I think) the second exit from the roundabout, the first being a service station. Follow this road until you come to another roundabout. Take the second exit, signposted for Summertown.
(Try to avoid the third exit, marked Town Centre with a weight limit. It's not a disaster if you take this one, though, as almost any road on the left will take you from Woodstock Road to Banbury Road.)
Not far down this road is yet another roundabout, at which you want to turn right and head for the town centre down Banbury Road.
Follow Banbury Road south for a long time. Look out for Park Town and Norham Road on the left, because you want to take the next road on the left. You will see big concrete buildings in front of you as you approach this turn-off.
(If you miss Parks Road, take the next left, after the big concrete buildings. This is Keble Road. Quickly take the first right, and follow this road round until you reach Parks Road again. Turn right.)
Immediately after the University Museum (big building, big lawns in front, can't miss it) is the only left turn off Parks Road. Take it.
*1 Follow Parks Road all the way round to the High Street, where you have no choice but to turn left. (Don't worry that it metamorphoses into St Cross Road and Longwall Street on the way.)
*2 At the roundabout, take the third exit.
A few hundred yards down Iffley Road there is a crossroads. The Fir Tree pub is on the left, and the road to the right (actually the first time you can turn right) is Jackdaw Lane. Go down Jackdaw Lane.
The entrance to the Sports Complex is not far down on the right, through big wooden gates. The building with the gym in it is straight ahead.

From the south:

Haven't a sodding clue. I never have to come in this way. More helpfully:

I think you can leave the M40 at Junction 8, probably marked for Oxford. This would put you on the A40 at the east of the town.
If you follow signs for "Oxford" or "Town Centre", you should find yourself at the roundabout mentioned in *2 above, but take the second exit, because you'll be coming in along Headington Road.
Follow the rest of the directions.

If you have to leave the M40 at Junction 9, follow the instructions above.

If you end up on the A34 (Oxford Ring Road) some other way, try to leave it at the exit for Redbridge Park & Ride (assuming you're heading north).
There are probably signs pointing you to the town centre.
You'll be coming in along Abingdon Road/St Aldates. When you eventually arrive at Carfax (big crossroads, buses-only streets ahead and left), you'll have to turn right onto the High Street.
Follow the directions from *2 above.

If you end up missing the Redbridge exit and have to leave the A34 at the Seacourt Park & Ride, you're in trouble.
Just past the railway station there's a big junction with traffic lights everywhere. Turn left here.
The next junction has a buses-only lane straight ahead. You want to turn left. (Best to get in lane early.)
Turn right at the next junction. You should end up on Beaumont Street.
You can't turn directly right at the end of Beaumont Street (buses only, again), but you can go kind of straight ahead and turning right. Just go in the right-hand lane on Beaumont Street and follow the traffic - you'll see what I mean.
At the end of the short one-way street I just directed you down (look out for a graveyard on your right if you want to be reassured you're in the right place), turn left.
At the crossroads at the end of Broad Street (you should see a pub called the Kings Arms in front of you), turn left again.
Take the first right as you go up Parks Road. This new street is South Parks Road. Follow the instructions from *1 above.

See also OUCL maps page: there are lots of nice maps there in GIF and JPEG formats, although they tend to show only the town centre.
