The ever popular Oxford Wine Company's Off The Rack tasting is back! This unique tasting will have a small group select wines from the ample stock available at OWC. The tasting is always an enjoyable and varied look at the world of wine, and Lee Isaacs of OWC is always an excellent guide. Space is limited, and time is short: book now!

Friday 3rd Week (7th February)
In his best-selling World Atlas of Wine, Hugh Johnson claims that "Italy has the richest variety of individual wine styles, local climates, and, most importantly, indigenous grape varieties of all the world's wine producers." Tonight, we will be exploring the wines that have made Italy famous alongside little known gems, as well as getting you to grips with just what is meant by DOC, DOCG and IGT. We will be tasting a series of wines that are stocked at the local Oxford Wine Company, where Bacchus members enjoy a discount on all purchases.
50 places available. £5 for members, £10 for guests. 6.40pm for 7.00pm start. Location TBC.
Wednesday 5th week (19th February)
Because of its status as the producer of one of the most recognisable style of fortified wines, Portugal is often overlooked as a producer of non-fortified wines. Hopefully this evening, we will go some way to righting that wrong as we welcome Russell Mellor of Russell Mellor Wines to present a range of Ports and Portuguese table wines. Showcasing a number of wines that he stocks, Russell will guide us through Portugal's most famous wine producing region, demonstrating that if you know where to look, there is real quality to be had.
40 places available. £5 for members, £10 for guests. 7.30pm for 8pm start, Saskatchewan Room, Exeter College.
Wednesday 6th week (26th February)
Since it was founded 1879, CVNE has remained a family owned business located at Haro in Rioja Alta which has been at the cutting edge of wine production. Producing Rioja of exceptional quality and renown, CVNE puts researching the process of aging as a central tenet of their philosophy. This evening, Quentin Sadler returns to Bacchus to present the wines of CVNE in his inimitably engaging style. Make sure to book quickly as this one is going to be popular!
50 places available. £5 for members, £10 for guests. 6.40pm for 7.00pm start, Saskatchewan Room, Exeter College.
