BottlesBacchus are very excited to have some fantastic wine producers and wine merchants coming to speak to the Society this term. We hope that you will be able to join us to discover, learn about and enjoy some exceptional wines.

Summertown Wine Café

Monday 1st Week (12 October)

We invite Rob Malcolm from the Summertown Wine Café to present an introduction to the world of wine and a talk on the aesthetics of wine.

Central Council from Bordeaux


Wednesday 1st Week (14 October)

Bacchus welcomes the central council for Bordeaux to Oxford. They will be presenting a cross section of the wines of bordeaux as well as giving a tutored talk about the wines of the region.

Thursday 2nd Week (22 October)

Armit are this years winners of the IWC Burgundian importer award and tonight we get a chance to enjoy some of their range. We shall be sampling a cross section of some of Burgundies most sought after communes as well as comparing the classic french approach with that of more new world producers in the same region.

Friday 2nd Week (23 October)

Alex Linsley and Alex Woodham shall be presenting a more classical approach to wine tasting as well as providing an introduction to the more international varieties of white wine.

Tuesday 3rd Week (27 October)

Tonight we shall be hosting Antonio Morelsalchi an Argentinian wine maker who is coming to Oxford to present all 3 of his wines and give us an insight into the life of a winemaker.

The conclusion to our beginners' tastings, Alex Linsley and Alex Woodham shall be presenting a range of classic red varietals and styles.

Wednesday 4th Week (4 November)

The Champagne of Sir Winston Churchill. We welcome Cassidy Dart to Oxford to present the entire Pol Roger range, including the famous Cuvee Winston Churchill. This promises to be an excellent evening with some of the world's finest champagne and excellent Champagne related stories. This is will be a popular evening so signing up early is recommended.

Friday 5th Week (13 November)

After our excellent Yalumba tasting with Chris Unger last year we have the pleasure of hosting him again tonight. He will be presenting a selection of wineries from the Negociants portfolio, more details to follow.

Wines of Tuscany

Thursday 6th Week (19 November)

Tonight we will be looking at the effects of different vintages and ageing in red wines in a vertical tasting of some top Tuscan wines.

Champagne Bureau


Tuesday 7th Week (24 November)

The body which represents Champagne across the world are coming to Bacchus to present a cross section of the region and a look at some of the smaller champagne houses.

Grand Cru

Tuesday 8th Week (1 December)

Our termly Grand cru tasting, this term we are going to be drinking some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons from around the world. Can the wines from Napa match the finest Bordeaux has to offer?
