IAN LOGAN'S VIRTUAL GUIDE TO THE STUDY OF ST. ANSELM

Anselm of Canterbury lived from 1033 to 1109 AD.

He was born in Aosta in Italy and travelled to Normandy as a young man, entering the Benedictine monastery of Bec in 1060.

He studied there under Lanfranc and eventually became Abbot, before succeeding Lanfranc as Archbishop of Canterbury in 1093.
