Anselm of Canterbury lived from 1033 to 1109 AD.
He was born in Aosta in Italy and travelled to Normandy as a young man, entering
the Benedictine monastery of Bec in 1060.
He studied there under Lanfranc
and eventually became Abbot, before succeeding Lanfranc as Archbishop of
Canterbury in 1093.
