Members of the Centre have a long and distinguished record of research and publications issued by various publishers. In 1983 a new series was started with Berg Publications: Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Women. The volumes in this series take up a wide range of current debates, using comparative data and analysis of both past and contemporary experiences of women. Most books are based on workshops/conferences held by the IGS, and Members of the Centre or its Visiting Research Fellows edit most. Attention is given to practical developmental issues as well as to analyses of the cultural systems and ideologies that further or constrain them. The series provides fresh perspectives on central themes and raises new questions in the context of a plurality of cultures. It is addressed to the general reader as well as to researchers and students.
The General Editors of the Berg series are Shirley Ardener, Senior Associate, Queen Elizabeth House, First Director of the International Gender Studies Centre and Jacqueline Waldren, Research Associate, International Gender Studies Centre, Lecturer in Social Anthropology, Oxford Brookes University, and Field Coordinator, Deya Archaelogical Museum and Research Centre, Spain.
