The Cherwell Archery Club is an active and popular sports section of the University Club and we are currently in our 47th year of shooting at the sports field on Mansfield Road. Our members are drawn from just about anybody who works for the University and associated institutions, such as staff, Postgraduates, Alumni and retired staff. If you have a University card you can become a member of the University Club and then join the Cherwell Archers. Husbands and wives of staff are also able to join us as long as they are University Club members or welcome to come along to the social events and watch us shooting. Unfortunately, we cannot accept childred of staff but the Oxrad Club in Marston offers archery courses and chooting venues for children.
→ Monday evening is our Club night and from April until October we shoot outdoors from 5pm onwards weather permitting. During the season social events and competitions both within the Club and with other archery clubs are held. See the Members page for more information. Our affiliation with the OXSRAD Club in Marston also gives us an excellent indoor winter shooting venue. For those needing a second nights shooting we shoot there all year round on a Wednesday evening.
Our Club has a wide range of equipment available for use and our experienced Club members will help you get started regardless of your level of expertise. You are also welcome to bring your own kit if you have it.
We run training courses for beginners by popular demand. Our GNAS registered coach runs these three times in our shooting year. They are an ideal way of starting off in the sport from a beginner level and we charge a small fee for the equipment and time.
We all enjoy our archery; why not give it a go?
