I am a lecturer in philosophy at St. Anne's College, University of Oxford. My research lies at the intersection of logic, the philosophy of language, and metaphysics. My doctoral thesis (Oxford, 2008) was titled "Semantics, Meta-Semantics, and Ontology". I also have strong subsidiary interests in epistemology, the philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of mathematics. In addition, I teach the history of philosophy (both modern and analytic), and aesthetics.
Before I came to the UK I lived in Montreal, where I was an undergraduate at McGill University (I did honours in philosophy; my minor was in linguistics). And before that I lived in Saint Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. Other domiciles have included a sporting academy in Nantes, France (aged 16) and a travelling camper van (aged 6).
