OUMC holds a stock of equipment for use by our members. The Club's Gear Rep is responsible for holding on to everything and is the first point of contact for questions and requests.
All the Club's harnesses, belay devices and rock shoes are made available for use during official Brookes sessions. The Club is also happy to loan these out for short periods if you want to climb at Brookes at other times or at Iffley at any time during the week.
Helmets, harnesses, belay devices and rock shoes can be borrowed from the Club for any OUMC outing. However, all loans must be arranged beforehand, preferrably in the pub at the meet sign-up: there is space on the meet sign-up sheet for equipment requests. The Club is also happy to loan this equipment for short periods outside termtime: simply contact the Gear Rep.
The Club also has a small number of crampons and ice-axes for use by club members over the vacations. Again, to arrange this, contact the Gear Rep.
When you first start indoor climbing, the Club can lend you a harness and rock shoes, and between our current members there are plenty of ropes to go around. Soon, however, you will want your own rock shoes, chalk bag, and eventually a harness and belay device. With this basic gear, you'll have everything you need to go off climbing (indoors and out) with anyone who has their own rope and rack.
