Transport

Oxford is not a car-friendly city, and we advise you not to drive into the city unless absolutely necessary. Many roads are one-way only and others are closed to private cars. There is a limited amount of car-parking available at the Westgate shopping centre, although to park for the day will cost around £18. If you plan on driving to Oxford, a far better plan is to use one of the five park-and-rides.

Oxford is well served by public transport. Two bus companies operate in the city; The Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach Oxford. Route maps are available on their websites along with fare information. In addition, there are many taxi companies in Oxford.

Two regular coach services run from London to Oxford: the X90 (Oxford Express) and the Oxford Tube. In addition to these, National Express offer a range of coaches from different parts of the country.

The city also has a central mainline train station.
