Remote Locations

DEAR EDITOR, I found Beeler's article quite interesting, and appreciated his comments on the local situation of delivering distance education (ie, in the Northern environment). I am currently working out similiar difficulties, not as an instructor in distance education, but in attempting to integrate on-line resources in the delivery of higher education courses in a remote location in northern Manitoba. As the community I am teaching in (Nelson House) is near a large regional centre (Thompson) there is telephone access, but nonetheless the local situation needs to be carefully considered.

I also wanted to note that when I went to visit the pagination demonstration linked from the article, I was prompted to enter a user name and password, and thus was unable to see the demonstration.

Sincerely,
