British Library General Catalogue of Printed Books to 1975 on CD-ROM

Description: The British Library Catalogue of Printed Books to 1975 contains records of almost six million books, approximately half in English and half in other Western languages. It lists the largest collection of pre-1914 imprints in the world, almost every book published in the United Kingdom up to 1975, and some special foreign collections. It is supplied on five CD-ROMs with searching software. It allows users to search or browse the catalogue, using Boolean operators if required and to format their results according to BLC, MLA, Full or MARC standards. The search software also supports Greek, Cyrillic and Hebrew characters.

In conjunction with the British Library, Chadwyck-Healey have also released the British National Bibliography on CD-ROM. This contains over 1,500,000 records, with the current file giving all records from 1986 to the present day on a single CD-ROM and all records from 1950 to 1985 on two CD-ROMs. A new issue is published monthly.
