LinguaLinks

Description: LinguaLinks Library (a single, cross-platform CD-ROM) provides a suite of digital materials, consisting of reference texts, essays, and multimedia materials, which cover the subjects of Anthropology, Language Learning, Literacy, and Sociolinguistics. The CD-ROM also includes a range of useful freeware for both PC and Macintosh but no analytical or information management tools. The more sophisticated LinguaLinks WorkShops includes the full LinguaLinks Library materials, plus the CELLAR (Computer Environment for Linguistic, Literary, and Anthropological Research) database system (see http://www.sil.org/cellar/cellar.html) and tools for data management. The Anthropology section includes tools such as an anthropological data notebook for the collection and organisation of data; the Linguistics section holds the richest selection of tools which can be used to analyse semantic concepts in language, and to manage lexical data and publish a dictionary.

Requirements: PC running Windows 3.1 or higher with at least 8MB of RAM and a CD-ROM drive, or Apple Macintosh running System 7.0 or above with at least 8 MB of RAM and a CD-ROM drive.
