Description: The Humanities Computing Initiative at Tel Aviv University has produced a full-image, fully searchable electronic version of the entire run of the Palestine Post for the years 1939-1948. Every page of every edition is included, giving some 15,000 pages of broadsheet newsprint. The project uses 'smart image technology' to allow access to facsimiles of the original image of each page whilst also permitting text searches (including boolean and proximity operators).
The collection can be distributed either on a single 9GB hard disk or as a collection of CD-ROMS (approx. 1 CD per year).
Requirements: IBM-compatible PC; CD-ROM drive. Currently DOS version; Windows 95/Windows NT version in production.
Further information: The product is not yet commercially available. Contact the distributor for information.
