Thesaurus Linguae Graecae

Description: The TLG is a databank of ancient Greek texts, at present disseminated by CD-ROM. The project has been running since 1972 and now totals around 73 millions words. The version currently available to buy is CD-ROM D, a collection of nearly all ancient Greek texts from the 8th Century BC to A.D 600 and also historiographical, lexicographical, and scholiastic texts deriving from the period between 600 and 1453.

Requirements: PC running Windows 3.1 or higher with at least 8 MB of RAM and a CD-ROM drive, or Apple Macintosh running System 7.0 or higher with at least 8 MB of RAM and a CD-ROM drive. To access the texts a search program must also be purchased.

Further information: The developers of the TLG CD-ROM do not make any software for searching it themselves but do maintain a list of software available for this purpose.

Price: The Individual License (five years) costs $500.This must be primarily for the use of the licencsee, who may allow others to acess the CD-ROM occasionally and under his or her direct supervision.

An Institutional License (five years) costs $850 and allows for all of the institution and temporary patrons to access the data on that particular CD-ROM. For multiple user access by downloading the CD-ROM data onto a hard disk or file server the five year Site Licence costs $3,500.
