Biography
I'm a UK-trained medical doctor specialising in Health Informatics. My research interests have focused on the use of affordable and open technologies for improving healthcare (especially for use in developing countries).
In particular, I've been working on developing Open Source tools for home telemonitoring and Open Access e-learning courses for health IT professionals (Health Informatics Forum) and for medical professional education (New Media Medicine).
I've developed e-learning courses on a wide range of medical topics using 3D anatomical animations and the Moodle Open Source learning management system (LMS).
I'm the Chair of the IMIA Social Media Working Group and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Informatics. I'm also the co-founder and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Health Informatics in Developing Countries.
