Understanding cancer

Using computational models and simulation tools may help us in the process of understanding multi-cellular processes in healthy and diseased multicellular systems. Our approach is to integrate regulatory genomic and cellular signaling networks together with dynamic, developing multicellular systems. We can thus study the genome and the cell in the context of other cells changing in space and time.

Understanding Cancer
To better comprehend complex processes like cancer, we use software to model and simulate different types of cancer on a computer. This may help us to better diagnose and treat cancer in the future. In the computer generated cancer on the left, cells in red are cancerous having been caused by in silico mutations in the genome of healthy cells. Published: 19 October 2006
