This website contains a new panel data set, linking the data initially collected between 1976 and 1985 by the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) as part of the Village Level Studies to a further rounds in 2001 to 2007. The released version on this webpage is limited to the data collected in 2001/02 to 2004/05 by ICRISAT on the households residing in six of the original villages, and a 2005 round collecting details on all individuals included in the 'old' VLS, including those not residing in the village or death. For convenience, the 'old' VLS data are also included as they are typically circulating among researchers.

More data, collected in 2006 and 2007, will be released in due course, including from a survey trying to track all the migrants out of the village, and further data in the six villages on all households and split-offs still residing in the villages.
