This page provides details of places we will visit during the Conference.
The Faculty of Philosophy is located at 10 Merton Street in the centre of Oxford.
Most people are staying at Oriel College, one of Oxford’s oldest colleges and a short walk from the Philosophy Centre.
The dinner on Thursday evening is at the Cherwell Boathouse restaurant:
The Cherwell Boathouse is in North Oxford, so we will organise a coach from Oriel College to the restaurant and back later.
We are visiting The Head of the River on Friday lunchtime. It is a pub on the river Thames about 15 minutes from the Philosophy Centre going south, and a lovely stroll through ChristChurch meadow if the weather is kind.
Saturday early evening drinks will be in the Cloisters which is a short walk from the Philosophy Centre, after which we have dinner at the Undercroft. Space is limited to around 30 people so unfortunately it will be first-come first-served for the graduates attending the conference!
There are many local restaurants to choose from only a short walk from the Philosophy Centre. Saturday lunchtime is your opportunity to sample these pleasures in groups or even alone! Simon particularly recommends the following:
For Indian cuisine, try Café Zouk, more to follow...
