About me

Gustavo

Gustavo I am a student reading for a DPhil in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford in UK (Exeter College :) ). I work in the Impact Engineering Laboratory (IEL).
Before coming to UK I spent 2 wonderful years in Saudi Arabia :).
I like music and potatoes.

Peru

Machu Picchu This is my home country. Located in the central western coast of South America, is a beautiful and unique place with the amazing Andes along the country and the exhuberant amazon forest. Did I mention food is wonderful?

Research

Ageing of Composite Materials

My research is oriented to the study of composite materials for underwater applications. This investigation aims to develop a constitutive model able to capture the effects of water uptake upon the strain rate dependent properties of composites. Previously, in my master thesis, I investigated the degradation of fracture toughness of an epoxy resin due to hygrothermal aging.

Research interests

Composite materials, material degradation, constitutive modelling, experimental mechanics, material characterization, resins.
