Focus and New Information in Triestino:
data from Triestino suggests a scalar notion of Contrastiveness.

- Clitic
loss and language universals
(research carried out during an
extension of research leave funded by the John Fell Fund): a
group of the Comelico dialects is at different stages of a process of
object clitic loss, revealing that the dialects follow a
common path. Interesting parallels with Brazilian Portuguese and the
Rhaeto-Romance varietes are also uncovered, and some possible language
universals are discussed. Published.
- Clitic
development and loss (partly funded by the John Fell Fund):
project focusing on the development cline of pronominal clitics in
Rhaeto-Romance. Work in progress.
- Clitic
interpolation: a synchronic and
diachronic investigation of interpolation structures with reference to
the process of grammaticalization. Work in progress with Cinzia
