Research Interests: Our interests
are in a wide range of aspects of carbohydrates including hydroxylated
alkaloids, nucleosides, green amino acid synthesis, new biopolymers,
Peptidomimetics. Bioactive sugar mimics as potential agents for the treatment
of HIV, cancer, cystic fibrosis, hepatitis B and C; novel immunostimulatory
materials. A green approach to the
biotechnological and chemical synthesis of new carbohydrates
Nutraceuticals are likely to benefit the human race as
novel chemotherapeutic agents and alternative food stuffs; this
is one of our major projects. We are also interested in green environmentally
friendly syntheses of nucleosides – the most successful compounds for
keeping humans who have cancer AIDS and nasty viral diseases alive with a
reasonable life style.
