From scoops on spending scandals to the rhetorics of war enquiries, our daily lives have been intruded by discourses of mis/appropriation. Throughout history literature has recorded and engaged in acts of appropriation, theft and fertile exchange. Our one-day conference, to be held at the English Faculty, Friday 4th June (6th week, TT), aims to dissect these and interrogate the significance of appropriation and misappropriation for literary studies.
Keynote address by David Lawton, "Poets versus Priests: a Literary History of (Mis)Appropriation"
and Philip Pullman, in conversation with Hermione Lee.
