University of Bath - Bsc Biochemistry with Industrial Placement Year
Interests
I am interested in protein structural study and enzyme kinetics. I enjoy running, yoga and baking in my spare time.
Research
12 week final year research project in Prof. Jody Mason
laboratory, setting up a cell assay to detect early stage beta-amyloid
dimerisation for identification of peptide inhibitors.
Industrial placement year at AstraZeneca, working in the
Biochemical Assay Development team. My project was to characterise the
kinetic mechanism of a methyltransferase, and involved carrying out
pre-steady state kinetics, initial velocity, dead-end and product
inhibition experiments, a solvent viscosity study and an isotope
exchange study.
3 week summer placement at GSK, performing a literature
review and setting up a database of research on the use of antenatal
corticosteroids for women in preterm labour.
Conferences
Podium presentation at the ‘Current Trends in Drug Discovery: young
scientists and tomorrow’s medicines’conference organised by the British
Pharmaceutical Society and Society of Medicines research in June 2018
