I have recently been awarded a 5-year BBSRC David Phillips Fellowship for setting up an independent research group at the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford, UK, and for further developing my research on New Caledonian crows. This grant, which has a total value of £1.43 million, provides funding for a postdoctoral research associate (3 years; recently advertised) and a full-time field assistant (4 years; soon to be advertised), and comes with a substantial research support grant (to build and maintain infrastructure, and to cover all additional research expenses).
Northern Goshawks
My work on goshawks and other raptors is ongoing, and I am always keen to hear from enthusiastic people who wish to participate in fieldwork, or are interested in the analysis of existing datasets. Collaboration can take various forms, ranging from the supervision of a fully-fledged MSc or PhD project (so far, 3 students) to less formal arrangements for joint fieldwork (so far, more than 20 volunteers). I am also happy to support independent projects that fall into my general fields of interest, and can provide infrastructure and expertise for kick-starting new raptor work in the city of Hamburg.
