The Christian Theology Reader was first published as a companion volume to the best-selling Christian Theology: An Introduction in 1995. It success led to its expansion and development over subsequent years, with extensive reader feedback providing invaluable assistance in this revision process. The fourth edition, which appeared in 2011, provided 378 readings, drawn from over 230 different sources, with representation of perspectives from across all major denominations and theological traditions. The book’s success partly reflects the very high level of assistance provided to readers. Each reading is accompanied by an introduction, comments on the text, and study questions to enable readers to get the most from their engagement with the texts. A fifth edition is now in preparation, and will make significant revisions in response to reader feedback. This new edition is expected to appear in time for the academic year 2015-16, Further details of its contents will be announced nearer the time of its publication.
