Ode to Jouissance is a long term
project, a collection of short stories focussing on various aspects of
what it is like to be part of Europe in the twentieth and twentieth
centuries, both the New Europe and Old. As with most of my writing, the
primary question is that of home. For those living in Europe, what is it
that we can call home? A place? A set of values? A shared history? A
shared view of "the outside"? A collective guilt about past wrongs and
present indulgences? Or is it the one thing the perceived absence of
which makes enemies of each other?
