| Richard "They're prescription" Baderin |
|
Perhaps it was because he was thinking of running for Prez, or maybe
he was just training too hard, but 2003-04 saw a particularly well
behaved 'Bad boy'. In fact the first thing he requested as President
was for us to start calling him Richard. However this is, quite
clearly, not going to happen. The threadbare GB kit, those mean-ass
sunglasses in the depth of winter, some sublime hurdling and of
course his infamous flexibility; will all continue to earn Richard
the title of 'Bad boy'.
The 03-04 season saw Richard get stronger, faster and lighter. The
result of which was seen in some great races, including a second
consecutive win in Varsity high hurdles. No doubt 04-05 will bring
more of the same, we will see him chasing that third Varsity win, and
no doubt training like a beast (we might even see a repeat of
Portugal, where we saw him pull out some sub 40 three hundreds).
Ever present at the track, keen to take the initiative and full of
good ideas, Richard has always been a central figure in training and
club life. Now at the helm of the club as President, there is little
that can stand in the way of him and OUAC.

| Katie Sam |
|
Ian says that Katie should do a great job as women's captain, and he's got a
point. Katie joined OUAC from Nottingham Uni and with her she brought
gruelling 400m training sessions, killer abs reps and, most importantly, a
weird enthusiasm for school disco. As one of the 4 girls in Portugal this
year, she also brought some glamour to the Algarve and was the winning anchor
leg in the naked relays (actually, semi-clothed in reality!) If girls need any
more reasons to be a part of OUAC, then Katie's the one to speak to!

daniel johnson at new oxford
|
| Dan Johnson |
|
Off the track 03-04 was a great year for Dan. He brought a level of
organisation to kit that had previously not been witnessed here at
OUAC. Pushing his degree to one side also allowed him to work on his
comedy skills. You will no doubt have already received one of his
Oscar nominated emails (along with half the Canadian Government).
This year sees a shift in his focus, he leaves behind kit and moves
onto his new passion, secretaries in kit. If he does even half as
good a job as he did for kit boy, OUAC will be running very smoothly
indeed.
On the track, his season started tough. A seemingly never
ending hamstring injury took him out for 9 months of the year. Coming
down to the track every session and just doing abs (normally in the
rain) can't have been fun, (however I am informed his 2 pack is now
hard as steel). However a mixture of kit, beer and a great sense of
humour saw Dan through these tough times. Recovering in time for warm
weather training, Dan started to get up to pace. By May he was ready
to shoe. His performance at Varsity was immense. Smashing his triple
jump PB by 70 centimetres, he destroyed the opposition. A true Dark
Blue warrior. This season will see (a hopefully injury free Dan)
building on that performance and gunning for a place in the Blues
Team.

| Nick "I don't get naked anymore" Radford |
|
2003/4 was a strange season for Nick. Determined to knock 10 seconds off his
400m pb and launch an assault on Michael Johnson's world record, he launched
into his new training programme and diet with an intensity never seen before at
OUAC. Alas his skinny body couldn't cope with this incredible workload and his
knee caved in under the pressure.
Radford promptly disappeared to the gym for the best part of winter, studying
Arnie's encyclopaedia of bodybuilding and refining his weight lifting and more
importantly his posing. The summer witnessed a bigger, badder Radford hit the
track and destroy his pbs in both the 400m and 400m hurdles proudly claiming
his half blue in the 400m hurdles at Varsity.
Quite what he was doing in that gym all winter remains a mystery, but if he's as
good at handling money as he is at isolating his abdominals, the club's
finances are in safe hands.

| Vice Captain (Men) |
toleme ezekiel at chch oxford
|
| Toleme "Phat" Ezekiel |
|
Mr Ezekiel came to OUAC this year on a mission. To run. Around the track and
after girls. In no particular order.
Despite being a Fresher, (albeit a Grad one), he has made quite an impression
this year, showing off his obvious talent, and running straight to the top of
this year's 60, 100 and 200m rankings. Therefore, having successfully achieved
part one of his mission, he will no doubt look to continue the solid ground
work he put in in Portugal, and at the various other OUAC-versus athletic
meets, to reap similar rewards in his quest for a lady.
All this makes him the perfect Men's Vice-Captain, as although he has rarely
been seen at the track before 7pm, (he likes to keep his sessions short!), he's
an all round nice guy who has pledged his dedication to OUAC and to be at
training on time this coming year (provided he remembers his trainers). So, as
head of recruitment, he's the man to chat to if you can't find our Pres or if
you have any general OUAC questions. And how do you recognise him? Just look
for the bloke in the flip-flops, throwing Frisbees at the girls!

| Vice Captain (Women) |
zoe barber at seh oxford
|
| Zoe Barber |
|
On joining OUAC in 2003, Zoe was unsure whether to pursue the 400m or the 800m
and hence dabbled in both for a short while, until, during the semi naked
relays in Portugal, the decision was made for her: taking a wrong turn and
having to run 3 times as far as everyone else Zoe demonstrated her talent over
the longer distance by shaking off her 400m training partner, who was reduced
to a wheezing heap in her wake! Now a fully fledged 800m runner, Zoe's ability
to juggle a degree with both cross country and athletics training never ceases
to astound the more mortal among OUAC members and there is no doubt that she
will give the same enthusiasm and dedication to this position.

| Iain McNeill |
|
Arriving equipped for the new season with some strange pole-vaulting glue,
apparently used by all the world's top vaulters, and a stunning Bondi Beach
hair cut, Iain looked like one of the most professional athletes OUAC has ever
produced. It was therefore essential that he lived up to this stylish front by
jumping the Blues height, which he did with a last gasp effort in the last OUAC
fixture of the year, having been agonisingly close in virtually every
competition of the season.
As sponsorship sec we are confident that Iain will be able to secure the club
lots of cash. In addition to being a driven and hard working guy, I doubt many
mortals will be able to say no to a man with such a long pole who quite clearly
knows what to do with it.

| Party Boy |
jonan boto at univ oxford
|
| Jonan Boto |
|
Despite only taking up athletics at the beginning of the year, Jonan has
consistently run under the blues standard for the 400m. Forfeiting a potential
modelling career with the Cherwell for the thrill of OUAC, Jonan confused
everyone by running blistering times despite the hindrance of ridiculously
baggy shorts and a huge mass of hair. We later found out that he is related to
a former Olympic champion thus explaining his natural ability regardless of his
clothing. He's the ideal Party Boy, apparently knowing every single person in
Oxford (most of them being from his college), and he's not immune to the idea
of the odd night out either, so be prepared for plenty of social events through
the coming year!

|
| Lizi Brathwaite |
|
As a member of the prestigious, out-of-varsity, lady's 4x1 team and as one of
the partnership which is the OUAC social team, Lizi has fashioned a role as a
very sought after lady in the club. Her enthusiasm for "getting pissed" should
not be underestimated and there is no doubt that she will provide many a drink
and many a party over the coming year! She has been known to arrive at the
minibus straight from a night on the town, but away from the bar, Lizi has
proved to be a very valuable member of the women's blues team. Having got her
first year under her belt, there are certainly big things to come both in the
400m and the 800m next year. No doubt she will be aiming for blues standards,
yet it must be presumed that a main goal for her will be retention of her spot
on the aforementioned 4x1 team. How to prioritise is a decision down to Lizi,
however, I'm sure she will gain great success in whatever she goes for!

kathryn hesketh at wadh oxford
|
| Kathryn Hesketh |
|
Yet again when duty has called Kathryn has responded with yet another year
on the OUAC frontline.
Kat consistently proves she is not just a pretty face. As well as convincingly
topping the OUAC annual performance rankings in the triple jump and top six of
the long jump, Kat has also earned herself the prestigious glory leg in the
womens 4x100 off track team. Kat is also known to some for her indecent
proposals: "It's all in the times, trust me".
This year Kat will be in charge of membership and will also dabble in a bit
of PR thanks to her insider journalist buddy. Kat's main responsibility is to
ensure that our members are in fine Tab thumping condition. She also sorts out
officials making sure those times and distances count.

| Danielle Fidge |
|
Danielle joined OUAC last year and immediately launched a successful year of tab
shoeing in the high jump. After winning the Freshers Cuppers by 40cm, such
was the fear she sent down the filthies' spines that they managed to get the
high jump cancelled in the FVM, rather than be completely out-jumped by someone
who treated the Cuppers match as her once termly training session. Danielle
promptly disappeared again, reappearing later to jump in FEAR and to come
second in the Varsity Match for the Blues. While she puts her lack of training
down to not wanting to have to climb the 6 flights of stairs to her room more
than once in a day, her appointment to the committee as one of the press barons
is sure to mean that next year she'll not only be ready for more tabthumping,
but will also enjoy writing in newspapers about how she and Ailsa keep on
beating the tab "women's" captain. When questioned about her training in the
build-up to Varsity, she revealed her secret to success is in only downing
shots of vodka between the bottles of VK. She has now succeeded in spending so
much time in Park End that she is being charged rent.

| Ben Moreau |
|
Ben did his best to help recruit students for the Oxford physiology course by
appearing in the new undergraduate prospectus with a tube in his mouth holding
tightly onto a strange piece of apparatus. No one has confirmed that the
printed picture had anything to do with physiology but the number of applicants
is expected to reach an all time high this year.
When not playing with his tubes, Ben like to run round the track a ridiculous
number of times without breaking into a sweat. During the winter Ben disappears
to the hills to engage in the strange and inexplicable phenomena that is
cross-country running but as long as he manages to get OUAC on the front page
of every major national newspaper we might forgive him for this behaviour.

| Jess Tyrell |
|
The lesser spotted Jess is undoubtedly a beast of warmer climates owing to the
fact that it is normally to be found in the relative comfort of the university
gymnasium during inclement weather. Jess had the misfortune this year of being
injured by a rogue and violent horse whilst on holiday at Easter, meaning that
she missed out on a place in this year's varsity match. Despite this, however,
she has remained in touch with the club in a supportive role, helping out at
many of our events including the 4 minute mile anniversary match and the
varsity match. We all know it will be with a heavy heart that Dan Johnson
hands this position over to Jess, however if she loves kit even a quarter as
much as he does, then OUAC has nothing to fear!

finlay wright at lincoln oxford

| Finlay Wright |
|
Having left Oxford in 2003 with a degree in a couple of languages Fin decided to
put his 4 years of hard studying to full use by training full- time in a quest
to become the fastest white man in the UK.
The move seems to have paid off this year with Fin edging ever closer to the 21s
barrier for the 200m which he claims will give him the speed necessary to
launch his assault to become a world class 400m hurdler.
Returning to OUAC this season to study for a masters Fin will be welcomed back
with open arms and will hopefully keep our fixtures running as smoothly the
bends of his 200m runs.

| Sean Buckeridge |
|
A very dedicated athlete, Sean has been a sprinter since he was
twelve. After coming to Oxford to pursue a Computer Science degree
he didn't waste time and immediately joined OUAC.
Sean can regularly be seen training down at the track and competing
at all major meets, where he impresses his opponents with his
incredibly short stride length and enormous speed. Just recently he
taught the Tabs a lesson and won the 2nd team match at Varsity in the
100m.
As a sprinter Sean is rather a lightweight and everybody should watch
out what he will achieve once he exchanged his 40kg benchpress weights
with 100kg weights. Which repercussions this might have on his
football opponents remains to be seen.

A relatively new member of OUAC, Tino joined the club in February 2004
after making his debut in cuppers. He has always enjoyed athletics but
has never been a member of an athletics club, so what better way to kick
start an athletics career than to join OUAC! Despite suffering from shin
splints, Tino is a regular attender of the best circuit sessions in the
world and promises to train hard for the short sprints once the injuries
are behind him. Tino is currently in his second year doing a DPhil in Maths.
He also has a very good knowledge of computing, so maintaining and improving
the OUAC website will be like finger painting for this webmaster. Maybe he
can even devote a small section in the website for some quality tab bashing
games.
