Welcome to our website!
We are a
small club with group A membership
of the RLSS.
The club was founded in 1995 by Adrian Burden and has been expanding
ever since, we now have around thirty members. The club exists to teach
people basic and advanced lifesaving skills and to enter teams into
competitions.
This site should provide most basic information, but if you want to know more then you can email the club or just turn up to any club session - we're a friendly club, we welcome new members at every session.
Training Sessions
Main training is on Thursday nights during term time, from 7:45pm til 10 pm, meeting in the reception of new
University Pool
at Iffley. We do an hour of dry side training, followed an hour of wet side training.
We will also have a competition and fitness session on Wednesday
mornings, from 7.30-8.30am.
For the pool sessions you'll need to bring usual swimming kit, and all members of the club will need to join the pool (costs £65 for the year), but don't worry, the first few taster sessions are on us!
Socials
After each training session, our hard work and professionalism degenerates towards a nearby pub (usually The Oxford Blue on Marston Street) for a swift pint or two before heading home.
Competitions
The club enters teams into inter-uni competitions during term time, including Varsity at which we were victorious in 2004 (but not 2005, 2006 or 2007.... oops!) We are always on the lookout for talented lifesavers to join our competition squad. The club also held its first Cuppers competiton in Trinity Term 2005. See the competitions section for more details.
