Swimming Training Advice
1 sec = ± 12pts Having defeated his enemies, de Coubertin's officer was supposed to swim across a roaring torrent of a river. Swimming is the third event in pentathlon and the one fastest, lasting for most competitors just three minutes or less. Whilst it tests your all-round fitness, it is also a complex sport demanding a good deal of attention to technique. You'll have to provide your own kit for swimming, which you'll probably have already goggles and trunks/swimsuit. Blue OUMPA hats can be picked up for £5 from the club. Kickboards and drill floats are all provided by the Iffley Pool Pool membership costs £60 a year. Training: We have lanes booked at Iffley pool on Tuesday and Thursday night from 9pm to 10:30pm. We'll provide a range of sets for different speeds which will either test your fitness to the max or give you the chance to perfect all the parts of your Tuesday's session is shared with the Triathlon club (OUTC) and always ends in a trip to the Cricketers Pub. For this reason it's traditionally seen as the CORE session. Evening swimming might seem a chore but it's regarded by most club members as an excellent way to wind down after a long day.
