Bubble and Squeak
Michaelmas Term Week 1

8.13pm, Sunday 15th October 2006

Evening All,

Welcome to the first edition of Bubble and Squeak. Whilst I might refer to this lovingly as a newsletter, in reality it's more of a President's waffling on the grounds that it's not my prerogative to send any more useful emails.

It's been great to see a few new runners out at our Freshers' Events, in the Parks (in some extremely bad weather) and at Freshers' Drinks. We hope that you'll stick around! Today saw the first real event of term - we took a combination of new and old faces down to Newbury for the Compass Sport Cup. The results aren't up yet, but it seems that several good results were had.

Next week we'll be doing something slightly different in that there will be a training day at Shotover, on the edge of Oxford. The idea will be that there will be a range of exercises that can give you some practice at orienteering in a forest, and one that was once used for the JOK Chasing Sprint. If you don't have a bike then beg, borrow, buy or steal one, and we'll cycle up en masse. Joe, our Training Officer, will send more details pretty soon.

Hope to see some of you at the pub soon - we've got a series of socials coming up as described in Chris's email earlier this week. These are normally a great way of getting to know other members socially, so we'll look forward to seeing some more new faces tonight, and on Tuesday and Wednesday.

'Til 8:30 at Chequers, then...

SGB
