About Us

The Oxford University Society of Biomedical Sciences (OUSBMS) is a non-profit, student-run organisation.

The Society is aimed towards students studying the disciplines of the biomedical sciences, including biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience, psychology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.

Our goal is to enrich the lives and minds of members by providing support and running events to:

  • Promote a deeper understanding in areas of the biomedical sciences
  • Provide support for those deciding on a career path
  • Strengthen social ties and form a cohesive group of learned individuals

We are a committee of 8 students that run 20 events per year:

  • 5 speaker events featuring high-profile scientists in the fields of physiology and neuroscience
  • 6 social events to encourage collaboration between students and mingling of the different year groups
  • 6 welfare events to provide support to our fellow students as they navigate through university
  • 3 careers events featuring representatives from companies across the UK

Students studying on the 3-year Biomedical Sciences course at Oxford have the opportunity to attend a total of 61 OUSBMS events during their time here.
