Michaelmas Term 1998

Our meetings are on Wednesday and Sunday. Wednesdays are moderately structured: alternately video meetings, and discussion nights. We usually manage an author or so: this year the first four to be arranged have obligingly settled for Wednesdays too.

All Wednesday meetings happen in Ruth O'Reilly's room in Balliol's Jowett Walk (Tower 3 Room 7) - directions on request. All Sunday night meetings currently happen in Alex Williams' room in LMH (Old Old [sic] Hall 5). Author nights take place at special venues: this term in Oriel JCR annexe - take the far left exit from Oriel's first quad', then follow the second quad' around to the right, exiting through the long corridor, and the JCR annexe will be on your right in the third quad'.

Sunday nights are Library nights, when people may access our 2,000 or so fine tomes without just dropping by on our Librarian-President. This night is a chaotic social whirl, abetted by Crap Wine. The senior members of the society try out cheap wines to see if they are good deals after all, and the younger ones try to make them drinkable with anything from sugar to chili sauce.

We also plan to cram in a weekend showing of all four Alien movies. We have available the Babylon 5 TV movies In the Beginning and Thirdspace for those of you keen on the program but not keen enough to shell out for the flicks.
