Comments

The MNVL team enjoyed a trip to Essex yesterday, where they took on Brentwood Estonians and Watford Danes. The Estonians' youth and lack of consistency is reflected by their place at the bottom of the division, but Oxford have not performed to their potential against a few of the weaker teams this year, so they had something to prove (to themselves as much as anyone else).

They came out firing on all cylinders in the first set, and simply blew the opposition away before they knew what had hit them. Scott had great success through the middle, not smashing the balls but carefully placing them deep where the Estonians were poorly positioned and provided an imposing block. Jamie and Gabri enjoyed hitting outside against a weak block, and Pavel was jumping and swinging away as usual.

The second and third sets were much like the first - Oxford consistently sided out and kept serve, wrapping up the match in no time at all.

Congratulations to Adam, who bagged his first MVP of the season for his consistent setting and great scrapping for pickups when everyone thought the ball was going to hit the floor.
