Comments

Given Cardiff Tigers are bottom of the league, and have won no matches yet this season, we expected an easy win and this proved to be the case.

Having won the serve for a change, the starting six of Cecilia, Jana, Kerstin, Kath, Claire and Erica, plus libero Jenna, got a solid start in with Cecilia serving four winning points straight off. Points clocked up in this fashion, with everyone getting into the game nicely with positive serving, great defence and some good spikes, ending with a 25-10 first set.

The second set echoed the first, with great serve runs, this time by Jana and Erica, and solid performances from the whole team leading to an easy 25-10 second set victory.

Sarah came on for Cecilia in the third set and quickly got into her setting, and some good passes from the free balls enabled our hitters to cause chaos amongst the opposition's defence. Great serving again from Jana, Kath and Claire never let the opposition in and without even a complete rotation we had won the third 25-9.

This match never really pushed us at all, and it would have been very easy for our team to relax and stop playing properly, so it was a credit to the team that they never stopped concentrating and kept up our standard of volleyball against a weak opposition who never threatened our lead. Our league is extremely tight at the top so every match counts and it was crucial not to over-relax and drop a set. Well done to the team for keeping the game standard up, and finishing the match cleanly, and particularly well done to Jana for her MVP.
