about the club

Oxford University Women's Cricket Club is a long established Oxford club. It currently has half-blue status, and plays an annual Varsity match against Cambridge (which we won emphatically in 2003, 2004 and 2007, and emerged victorious after exciting matches in 2005 and 2006), along with a mixture of friendly and competitive cricket against other women's and men's clubs, school and college sides, the MCC and the BUCS competition. The club is one of the most successful university sides in the BUSA (British Universities Sports Association) competition, reaching the final in 2006 and 2007, and reaching the quarter finals in 2009. We also play indoor tournaments against other universities during the winter, and were the runners-up in the BUSA Indoor Championships in 2006.

As a result of the high standard of coaching in the university even people who have never played cricket before have the chance of earning a Half-Blue.

Individual players in the club have also had success. In recent years past and current members of OUWCC have represented England, England U21, County XI's and the British Universities Combined XI. As well as group coaching sessions, we offer training on a more individual basis to experienced players through the UCCE Centre of Excellence Scheme.
