2018

October 6th: Welcome to Oxford BBQ! Our yearly social event to welcome newcomers to Oxford.

May 22nd: Talk by the Governor of the Central Bank of Chile in the Blavatnik School of Government.

May 1st: Homage to Nicanor Parra, the Chilean Anti-Poet. Event co-organised with the Oxford Spanish Graduate Seminar, and with support from the Embassy of Chile in London and St. Catz College, Oxford.

March 6th: The Chilean writer Jorge Edwards gave a talk about the late Nicanor Parra, in a conference titled "Nicanor Parra: La Poesia de la Antipoesia".

February 22th: Screening of the Chilean Film "Gloria" (Sebastian Lelio, 2013) in the context of "Horizontes. Latin American Film Festival".

February 14th: "Hannah Ryggen: Woven Histories" at Modern Art Oxford. Guided tour around the exhibition for members of the Oxford Chilean Society.

2017

December 11th: New committee elected.

November 8th: General Assembly of the Society. Openning of elections for new committee.

October 9th: Pub meeting: Welcome to Oxford!. Our social event to welcome newcomers to Oxford.

September 17th: Chilean BBQ: ¡Feliz 18!. Our flagship social event, we got together to celebrate our national holidays with great food and some Pisco!

March 10th: General Assembly of the Society.

February 11th: "Completada", a charity+social event to support our Chile Wildfires Disaster Relief Campaing, and the main social event of the society during Hilary Term.

February-March: Chile Wildfires Disaster Relief Campaing. We were proud to start a UK-wide campaing to raise funds in benefit of the displaced by recent wildfires in Chile.

2016

November 14th: "Chilean exiles in the UK: the role of academics for Chile". A talk by Prof. Alan Angell (Emeritus Fellow, St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford.

October 3rd: Pub meeting: Welcome to Oxford!. Our social event to welcome newcomers to Oxford.

September 18th: Chilean BBQ: ¡Feliz 18!. Our flagship social event, we got together to celebrate our national holidays with great food and some Pisco!

June 26th: Copa America Championship Finals. Just as previous year, we organised with other latinamerican societies to watch our football national team throughout the tournament. This time it was the final!

March 11th: "Shakespeare y Nicanor Parra: Un mismo combate (o la verdadera seriedad es cómica)". A talk by Rafael Gumucio (Director of Instituto de Estudios Humorísticos, Universidad Diego Portales, Chile).

February 20th: Chilean BBQ. Another great social event.

January 22th: "Sustaining Contentious Mobilisation: Citizenship and Identity in Chilean Poblaciones". A talk by Rafael Gumucio (Director of Instituto de Estudios Humorísticos, Universidad Diego Portales, Chile).

2015

November 17th: "Inequality in the Americas: An International Perspective". A talk by Dr. Andrés Solimano (CAF-Oxford University Fellow in Latin American Economics, St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford; and Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC).

November 13th: "Questioning Development: How Successful has the Chilean Neoliberal Model been?". A panel discussion, with José Miguel Ahumada (PhD(c), University of Cambridge), Dr. Tasha Fairfield (London School of Economics), Dr. Andrés Solimano (CAF-Oxford University Fellow in Latin American Economics, St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, and ECLAC), and Dr. Diego Sánchez-Ancochea (Director of Latin American Centre, University of Oxford), moderated by Dr. Simón Escoffier (University of Oxford).

October 10th: Latin Americans Welcome Event. A social event to welcome newcomers to Oxford (jointly organised with Oxford Latin American Society, Oxford Mexican Society, and Oxford Colombian Society).

September 19th: Chilean BBQ, to celebrate our national holiday. A popular with great food and Pisco!

July 4th: Copa America Championship Finals. As tradition, we follow our football national team by organising meetups with our co-nationals and other latinamerican fellows. This time it was the final!

May 13th: "Reforma Educacional en Chile: ¿Cuáles son los desafíos para las universidades?". A panel discussion, with Dr. Pablo Policzer (University of Calgary, Canada) and Dr. Tristan McCowan (Institute of Education, University College London), moderated by Dr. Diego Sánchez-Ancochea (Director of Latin American Centre, University of Oxford).

2014

October-November: Creation of Oxford Chilean Society.
