Informal enquiries are always welcome from candidates who are eligible to apply for Fellowships such as Newton International Fellowships, EMBO Long-Term Fellowships, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships or similar.
Informal enquiries by e-mail are welcome. Please note that ALL new students who wish to apply for a DPhil (Oxford equivalent of PhD) project in my lab have to apply via the normal application routes, described on the graduate students website. The studentships are highly competitive, so before considering making an application you must check whether you meet the eligibility criteria.
I am a supervisor on the Wellcome Trust 4-year DPhil Programme in Infection, Immunology and Translational Medicine, the Oxford Interdisciplinary Bioscience Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) programme and I regularly offer projects for the Departmental Prize Studentship Competition (DPhil in Molecular Cell Biology in Health and Disease).
Enquiries from curent PhD students looking for short term placements through funded schemes such as the Newton Bhabha PhD Placements Programme are also welcome.
Undergraduate students and work experience
For University of Oxford students in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences I regularly offer FHS research projects.
We also often host students for 6-8 week research projects (typically over the summer), ERASMUS Internships or shorter work experience placements.
Students who wish to do a research project are encouraged to apply for studentship funding. The Department of Biochemistry's website has excellent information on how to organise internships and funding sources.
