I received initial training as a Sanskritist during my undergraduate days. Having obtained my BA in Sanskrit in 2005 from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, I proceeded to read for an MPhil in Indian Philosophy at the University of Liverpool, UK. With my masters I came to Oxford in 2011 to start my DPhil on philosophy of Sanskrit grammar under the supervision of Dr. James Benson at the Oriental Institute.
I am also a member of the academic faculty of the Department of Classical Languages at Peradeniya.
My primary research interests are Sanskrit and Vedic grammar, philosophy of language (in broad sense) and Sanskrit syntax.
As regards my personal interests, I am an avid reader and have a passion for cooking and painting. I write in Sinhala, English and Sanskrit and am fluent in conversational Japanese in addition to the other languages stated.
