This is a variation on the technology used for the automapper. The cameras are callibrated differently and different processing software is used. The idea is the same in that two cameras can basically et a representation in three dimensions of one face of an object and by slowly moving the camera or the objects the other facets can be observed, recorded and fitted in with the whole. This enables you to have a true to life representation of the object in the matrix. This is great for home made matrix images. If you're tired of looking flat and two dimensional then get yourself a full 3d image with 3d Scan.
Also useful in a more specialized sense for engineering and mechanics. Being able to see how pars fit together and interact with each other can be very important and this lets you do it.
