Research Profile

While I was an undergraduate in the CUHK, I had been concomitantly working part-time for the Anthropology department in documenting the archaeological findings in Hong Kong (a team-based research project led by Prof. Tracey Lu; from 2004 to 2006) and doing literature search for a study of Hongkonger’s identity in the post-colonial era (an ethnographic research conducted by Prof. Gordon Mathews, from 2003 to 2004). During my M.Phil. study, I carried out longitudinal fieldwork for an in-depth study of the Sikhs in Hong Kong and India. From August to December 2008, I was research assistant to Prof. Maria Tam of the Anthropology department, CUHK, in an ethnographic study of the Nepalese community in Hong Kong. From 2008 to 2009, I worked as research assistant at the School of Public Health of CUHK. My main responsibility was to conduct fieldwork in epidemiological research and author/co-author reports and journal papers for publications. From 2005 to 2009, I was co-editor of The Hong Kong Anthropologist, an online anthropological journal published annually, at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/ant/hkas/. In the University of Oxford, I am affiliated with The Centre on Migration, Policy, and Society (COMPAS) as research student. During my one-year long fieldwork in Shaoxing, PR China, I am visiting student researchers in Social Studies Centre, Zhejiang University at Hangzhou and School of Economic and Management Studies, Shaoxing University at Shaoxing.
