Duruflé Requiem / Thierry Escaich
Friday 6th November 2009 - 8pm - Exeter College, Oxford

Schola Cantorum launches its 50th Anniversary Season in Oxford with a concert not to be missed.

The choir will perform Duruflé's Requiem alongside a set of works by the composer Thierry Escaich, who succeeded Maurice Duruflé as Professor of composition and improvisation at the Conservatoire in Paris and in 1997 as organist at St-Etienne-du-Mont church. Mr Escaich will perform one of his own compositions for organ and improvise on the Gregorian themes running through both the Requiem and his own compositions.

This is a unique opportunity to hear one of the leading lights in the rich French organ tradition perform his own works, as well as hearing Schola perform a much-loved piece within this tradition.

50th Anniversary Reunion 2010

Schola will be 50 years old in 2010 and the choir is planning a major reunion to celebrate.

All current and former members of Collegium Musicum Oxoniense and Schola Cantorum are being invited to perform Bach's Magnificat and Mozart's Mass in C minor in the Sheldonian Theatre on Saturday 1st May 2010. In addition, we are delighted that James MacMillan has accepted a commision to write a piece for the current choir.
