Events

Every week, we run regular classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and every other Thursday, but there are also a number of other Scottish dancing-related events happening in the area! Many of these are run outside the OUSDS – these are marked with a . Click the image for a link to the Facebook page with more details and to see who else is going. There are also events happening outside term-time, so keep an eye out on the list and in the emails.

Michaelmas 2014

RSCDS Oxfordshire Social Dance – Sat 29th November 2014, 8pm-10pm, Summertown Church Hall, Portland Road, Oxford

A social dance to recorded music, hosted by the branch.

End-of-term Dance – Tue 2nd December 2014, 7.30-11pm, Wesley Memorial Hall, Oxford

This will be a very jolly evening. We'll dance the dances we've been learning in the Tuesday classes this term. Wednesday classes will be open to all in 6th and 7th Week, where we'll be covering the trickier dances on the programme. Please bring finger food to share.
There will be live music from Chris Oxtoby.
Cost: £5 for members & £7 for non-members.
A crib is available.

Hilary 2015

RSCDS Oxfordshire Burns' Night Supper and Dance – Sat 17th January 2015, 7pm-11.30pm, Benson

The Branch Burns' Night. Craigellachie are playing. The haggis is addressed and delivered, and Alice sings some Burns songs.
Tickets £15.

RSCDS Youth Workshop – Sat 17th January 2015, 10.30am-10.30pm, Leeds University Union, Leeds

The RSCDS have organized a youth workshop with advanced and intermediate scottish dancing, choice between highland and ceilidh during the last hour. For ages 12-35.
Cost is £10 (including workshop, lunch and evening dance).

RSCDS Oxfordshire Day School and Dance – Sat 21st February 2015, Headington School, Oxford

This is a very good course. Morning and afternoon classes and an evening dance. The classes have excellent teachers and musicians. The music for the evening will be provided by Chris Oxtoby and Strathallan.

Oxford and Cambridge Highland Ball '15 – Sat 7th March 2015, 7.30pm-11.45pm, Stanton Harcourt, Oxford

The annual event hosted alternately by OUSDS and our Cambridge equivalents. This year it's in Oxford.
We have an excellent young and lively band in Luke Brady's Scottish Dance Band, featuring former OUSDS president Lindsey Ibbotsen.
Tickets £12.50 students/£17.50 others, including supper (and a great dessert buffet).
An event not to be missed!

Easter Vacation 2015

RSCDS Spring Fling 2015 – Friday 17th - Sunday 19th April 2015, London

A weekend for 16-35-year-olds that starts with an easy social dance Friday night, classes (beginners to very advanced) Saturday morning, optional classes in Highland/Birling/Ladies' Step in the afternoon, dance in the evening and Sunday morning will have judging for the Spring Fling new dance competition. All classes and dances have live music, and it's a very friendly atmosphere.
This is very close, and there should be lots of OUSDS people going.

The cost is £130 for a non-RSCDS member in a 3-bed room, £145 for a non-member in a 2-bed room; less if you are an RSCDS member or non-resident.
