Get in touch with your inner Scot
Every week, we run regular classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and every other Thursday, but there are also a number of other Scottish dancing-related events happening in the area! Many of these are run outside the OUSDS – these are marked with a . Click the image for a link to the Facebook page with more details and to see who else is going. There are also events happening outside term-time, so keep an eye out on the list and in the emails.
The start-of-year ceilidh is on Tuesday of 1st week and is open to everyone, whether you've danced before or not! No experience needed. All dances will be walked through and called. No need to bring a partner - there will be lots of dancers there. Lightweight shoes/trainers/pumps are a good idea.
Dancing to recorded music.
There wil be a range of cake in the interval.
The RSCDS are running a workshop for young dancers (12-35) in Cumnor just outside Oxford. There will be classes during the day led by Alice Stainer and Raphaelle Dorado. Chris Oxtoby and Jeremy Hill will be playing. It will be a jolly day with a dance in the evening open to all ages.
This will be a very jolly evening. We'll dance the dances we've been
learning in the Tuesday classes this term. Wednesday classes will be
open to all in 6th and 7th Week, where we'll be covering the trickier
dances on the programme.
Please bring finger food to share.
We will have live music from Chris Oxtoby.
Please note: this is in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre (map), not the Wesley Memorial Churche Hall where we normally hold Tuesday classes.
Cambridge are hosting this year. We'll be learing the dances in Hilary Term. Transport will be provided (we usually hire a minibus), and will be sorted nearer the time.
A lively weekend run by the RSCDS for young dancers (16-36), with fun classes and dances. There are lots of good musicians and teachers lined up, and there will probably be a group of OUSDS dancers going.
This is an excellent course with first rate teachers and musicians, and jolly good beaches and a sea to paddle in.
Most people go for a week (OUSDS usually aim for 2nd week - 23rd - 30th July), and it's great fun (and improves your
dancing too!). There are classes during the day at every level with wonderful teachers
and musicians, and dancing every night (plus after-party dancing too), with people from
all over the world, in sunny St Andrews. Plus beautiful beaches and amazing ice-cream, if
you need any further incentive!
