The Windows (1903)

Through these dark rooms, whose days
are weights, I wander to and fro
to find the windows. - Should a window open
it would offer some relief. -
But the windows don't exist, or I can't
find them. Better, maybe, if I don't.
Perhaps the light would prove another torment.
Who can tell what new things would emerge.
