|Papers||Although there is no firm limit, it is suggested that papers be no more than about 8000 words long. For those (I hope the majority) who will be submitting their papers for publication, this is in line with JEAS guidelines that articles should not generally be longer than 10,000 words, notes and references included. Papers may be written in either English or French, and participants may choose either language for presentation and discussion.|
Click here for abstracts and papers. Participants will be expected to have read the papers before the conference in order to facilitate discussion. It is expected that the early circulation of papers will allow time for participants to read papers in both languages.
|Publication||As with previous conferences, the proceedings will be edited for publication. Currently it is planned that this will take the form of special edition of the Journal of Eastern African Studies, thus providing participants with all the benefits associated with publication in a peer-reviewed environment. Final versions of the papers may be submitted for publication in English or French and will be selected on their merits and in accordance with the review process.|
