Reading and Exercises

Reading list for Introduction to Logic.

Each week you are expected to complete the exercises from The Logic Manual Exercise Booklet which accompany that week's lecture.

In addition, you should do the following exercises:

Additional Practice with Logic Exercises

If you want additional practice, more logic exercises are available from the links below. These are completely optional. I am not offering to mark these, but if going through the exercises raises specific questions, please bring them to class and we'll discuss them.

The last set of exercises are designed for use with a different book, one that uses a different proof system, Tableau, rather than Natural Deduction. Nevertheless, they should still be useful even though we are using the Halbach. Scroll down from the link to find them.

Volker has some worked examples of partial truth tables on the logic manual website. If you are still struggling with these, then take a look here, here, and here.

Volker also provides some examples of natural deduction proofs. Go to the logic manual webpage and click on the relevant proof to see the worked examples.

Finally, the logic manual webpage provides links to a few sample exam papers.
