The aims of the Oxford University Space and Astronomical Society are to promote and encourage an interest in astronomy, astrophysics and space science throughout the University.
We are currently restoring the society's observatory, which due to an act of vandalism about fifteen years ago we haven't been able to use. If you would like to make a donation please Contact us. For more information visit our Facebook page.

Speaker Meetings are held on Monday evenings in the Dennis Sciama Lecture Theatre of the Denys Wilkinson building. The doors open at around 8:20pm and the talks begin at 8:30pm. These talks are free for members and £2.50 for non-members. The talks last about an hour.
Free refreshments are served after every talk, giving you the opportunity to socialize with other society members, and to meet other people interested in Astronomy. You can also talk to the speaker, and ask them questions about their talk.
Observations are usually held on Fridays, meeting outside St. Catherine's College lodge at 8:30pm. Confirmation emails are usually sent out on Fridays, since due to the weather the session may sometimes be cancelled or postponed until Saturday or Sunday.
You can join our Mailing List to be kept informed of the societies' events. We send out an email a few days before every talk or observations session to keep everyone informed. Simply send an email to space.society@studentclubs.ox.ac.uk and ask to be added to the mailing list. To join the Society simply come along to one of the meetings (see the termcard) and tell the treasurer that you wish to join. He will be sitting outside the lecture theatre with the societies' cashbox, so you can't miss him! You can also email the committee and let them know that you want to join, and we will get back to you. Membership can be for one year or for life. The cost of membership is £6 for one year, and £12 for life. Non-members are welcome to attend speaker meetings, the cost for which is £2.50. You can visit and join our Facebook group to learn more about the society. You may also be interested in visiting the website for the Oxford Physics Society |
