St Peter's College Chapel, Oxford

The Chapel is physically situated at the heart of St Peter’s College and for a good number of Junior and Senior Members it is also a spiritual focus of our common life.  In common with most Oxford colleges, St Peter’s Chapel has an Anglican foundation, but members of all denominations are warmly welcomed to our worship.  Regular services cater for a range of traditions.  Our fine choir is drawn from College members who, under the general oversight of the Tutor in Music, sing at our more formal services; there are also more informal services.  The principal service each week is College Worship on Sundays and a wide range of preachers is invited to address topics of particular concern to members of the University.

Student participation in our worship by reading lessons, leading prayers, and preaching at our informal communion services is actively encouraged: Junior Members are the next generation of church leaders and we aim to help equip them for that task.

The Chaplain, Dr Andrew Moore, is an Anglican Priest who has pastoral oversight for all members of the College.  Any member of the College, irrespective of whether they have any religious affiliation, is welcome to call on him on any matter of concern.  He is actively involved in theological research, is a member of the Theology Faculty and teaches theology.

The Master of St Peter’s, Professor Bernard Silverman FRS is an Anglican priest and he regularly preaches and helps lead our worship.
