The discussion included contributions from Dr Ian Goldin, Director, 21st Century School, Oxford University; Norman Harrison, CEO, UK Atomic Energy Authority; David Broughton, Committee on Radioactive Waste Management; and Mark Lynas, author of Royal Society prize-winner Six Degrees.</description>

The issue features a keynote speech delivered by Prof. James Der Derian of Brown University at the STAIR conference organised in preparation for the issue in December 2006, and articles by David Bach and Abraham L. Newman, Gary D. Rawnsley , Diana Owen, and Solon Barocas. In addition, it includes an interview with Steve Herrmann, editor of BBC News Interactive. On the whole, the issue explores the political implications of the Internet through four themes: terrorism, the Internet and authoritarian regimes, Internet governance, and online journalism.</description>
